People Discovery

Grail can identify recurring people in supported video assets using local visual indexing on your agent machine.

Enable People Discovery

Open Organization Settings.
Turn on Local people discovery in the Visual Indexing section.
Confirm that the agent assigned to the relevant storage source is online and able to process video jobs.

When people discovery is enabled, Grail processes supported video assets locally on the agent machine. Face crops stay in your customer-controlled proxy storage.

Queue Visual Indexing

You can start visual indexing in two places:

On the Assets page, select one or more video assets and use the bulk Visual Indexing action.
On a video asset detail page, open the Visual Index panel and click Run Visual Indexing.

Review Faces On An Asset

After visual indexing runs, the asset detail page groups related face detections so you can review them faster.

Show curated faces focuses on the most useful detections by default.
Show all detected faces reveals background or lower-quality detections when you need a fuller review.
New Person creates a named person from the selected face or group.
Assign Group links a group to an existing named person.
Confirm Group keeps the current assignment and marks it as reviewed.
Ignore hides detections you do not want to keep using.

Use The People Page

Open People in the web app to browse named people created from indexed videos.

The left side lists named people with a representative photo when one is available.
Selecting a person shows the assets where they appear.
Each result links back to the asset detail page so you can continue review from the original video.
